We show our commitment through our certifications. Hatteras is certified through the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) as a chain of custody producer and we comply with FSC standards to promote responsible management of the world’s forests.

The FSC logo identifies products that contain wood from well managed forests certified in accordance with the strict environmental standards of the FSC. The path taken by raw materials from the forest to the consumer is tracked, traced and identified from its original point of harvest through all the steps of the production process until it reaches the end user. The FSC provides training and annually audits our processes to ensure the customer print products that bear the FSC logo are printed on certified environmentally sustainable paper.

Managing our processes: ISO 14001

Hatteras is an ISO 14001 compliant printer. The ISO 14001 environmental management standards exist to help organizations minimize how their operations negatively affect the environment and cause adverse changes to air, water or land. This international standard specifies the actual requirements for an Environmental Management System (EMS) and applies to those environmental aspects on which an organization can be expected to have an influence.

Hatteras is one of a small percentage of ISO 14001 compliant printers in the United States that has invested time and capital in becoming a certified environmentally friendly printer. Having an environmental management system enables Hatteras to:

• Implement a systematic approach to setting and achieving environmental objectives and targets and to demonstrate that we have.
